Apple (AAPL.US) officially announces a new product launch event next week, with the first touch-screen MacBook Pro expected to debut
Apple confirmed on Monday that a new product launch event will be held in Los Angeles, USA, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 28 (1:00 a.m. Beijing Time on October 29).
According to Zhihu Finance APP, Apple (AAPL.US) confirmed on Monday that it will hold a new product launch event in Los Angeles, USA, at 1:00 p.m. US Eastern Time on October 28 (1:00 a.m. Beijing time on October 29). The company is expected to unveil its first MacBook Pro equipped with a touchscreen, marking a significant transformation in Mac product design and interaction. In addition, a new entry-level MacBook Pro, an upgraded iMac, and the next-generation iPad mini are also likely to be unveiled at this event.
The launch event is themed "Pro and tell," in line with the soon-to-be-updated MacBook Pro product line. According to previous media reports, Apple plans to launch several new Mac and iPad products during the event, with the most attention focused on the MacBook Pro featuring a touchscreen for the first time.
For a long time, Apple has insisted on positioning Macs and iPads as different product categories, believing that traditional laptops and touch screen tablets should adopt different interaction methods. Therefore, the launch of the first touchscreen MacBook Pro signifies a change from Apple's longstanding refusal to combine the two product experiences. Reportedly, the new touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to feature an OLED display for the first time, providing clearer visuals compared to current screens. At the same time, the device will also introduce a "Dynamic Island" interface similar to the iPhone. Both features will debut for the first time in the Mac product lineup.
In terms of processors, the new touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to be equipped with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, from the same series as those in the current MacBook Pro launched in March this year. The addition of a touchscreen, OLED display technology, and Dynamic Island will be the main highlights of this product update.
Besides the high-end MacBook Pro, Apple also plans to launch a new entry-level MacBook Pro equipped with an M6 chip, as well as an updated iMac. The next-generation iPad mini is also likely to make an appearance, with one of its main upgrades being a display that offers clearer visual performance.
This product launch event comes only a few weeks after a series of recent Apple product updates. Previously, Apple has successively launched HomeView, the second-generation HomePod mini, and an upgraded Apple TV set-top box, further expanding its lineup of smart home and entertainment devices. At the same time, Apple’s first foldable iPhone Duo will officially go on sale this Friday, marking another significant product release by the company in the near future.
According to media reports on Sunday, Apple retail stores are preparing to begin sales of a new batch of products on November 6 (Friday). This suggests that some of the new products announced on October 28 might be officially available soon after the event, although specific launch dates still await confirmation from Apple.
For Apple, the debut of the touchscreen MacBook Pro is not just a hardware upgrade, but may also reshape the future development of the Mac product line. As touch interaction combines with traditional keyboard and trackpad operation, Apple is expected to further expand Mac usage scenarios and strengthen the seamless experience across its different devices.
Against the backdrop of the recent rollout of smart home devices, foldable smartphones, and new Macs, next week's launch will serve as an important window for the market to observe Apple's product innovation pace and high-end hardware strategy.
