06:58 AM EDT, 09/16/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms (META) chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said late Tuesday that AI labs have the "responsibility and incentive" to train models safely amid calls from industry leaders to slow down the development of frontier AI. In a post on X, Zuckerberg said any lab that doesn't focus on AI alignment will fall behind. He also highlighted that labs face significant liability if their models cause harm, giving them a strong incentive to prevent this. Meta delayed the launch of its personal AI agent Muse for several months to focus on "safety and security," the tech executive added.
