The founder of a hedge fund, Chris Rokos, is reportedly leaving the UK, becoming another high-profile taxpayer and prominent figure in the financial sector to depart the country. According to a source familiar with the matter, the Rokos Capital Management founder is relocating his residence to Greece. This move is a significant benefit for Greece and, by contrast, a blow to the UK. Greece previously introduced rules allowing certain foreigners to pay a fixed annual tax of 100,000 euros (approximately 116,240 US dollars) on all their overseas income. After the UK abolished its long-standing non-domiciled tax regime and increased several tax burdens, including those on private equity, inheritance, and capital gains, a number of prominent financial figures and business leaders have chosen to leave.
