Bird’s controversial $XRP claim sparks heated debate among holders
Community backlash and personal stories
Bird declared, “If any of your friends or family IRL still don’t hold any $XRP, you have failed them.” This statement immediately attracted attention from the so-called “XRP army,” prompting a wide range of reactions and sparking intense debate.
Several community members pushed back. One respondent described spending years encouraging people to invest in XRP, saying the effort had cost friendships and social standing. Another shared similar experiences, mentioning repeated attempts to convince friends to buy in, with only a few responding positively, while the majority chose not to participate and may eventually regret it.
Some participants adopted a softer tone. A commenter noted that persuading others is not necessarily one’s responsibility, despite having tried. Tony Hill reported success bringing several acquaintances into the asset but stated some others insisted on making their own decisions. He added that he is prepared to say “I told you so” should the asset perform as expected.
Bird has previously identified a 52-week cycle in XRP’s historical price movements, providing the framework for much of his current optimism. If this pattern unfolds, those who acted on his advice may soon see their efforts validated.
Differing views on personal responsibility
Others in the community rejected the notion that individuals bear responsibility for the investment choices of family and friends. Many referenced the familiar phrase, “You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink,” underscoring the challenge of convincing others to invest.
One member emphasized that no one can force another person to invest against their will, pointing out that some individuals have little or no tolerance for risk. Another highlighted the difficulty of persuading others, likening it to a professional challenge similar to selling complex products like solar panels or timeshares.
Community members frequently emphasized that everyone must make their own investment decisions, regardless of encouragement from friends or the broader XRP community.
Looking ahead for XRP
Bird has recently compared XRP’s current weekly MACD structure to patterns observed before major rallies, including the late 2024 surge. He remains optimistic and has outlined price targets that would see XRP reach a new all-time high. While many within the community support this bullish outlook, outside skepticism continues, leaving open questions about whether XRP can ultimately fulfill these expectations.
