Libya’s National Oil Corporation issued a statement on the evening of the 10th, reporting that an oil storage tank at the Zawiya refinery in western Libya was attacked, triggering a severe fire and complete collapse. No casualties have been reported so far. The statement noted that the targeted storage tank contained approximately 4.5 million liters of gasoline, and firefighting and safety teams are currently working to control the blaze. Local media reported that the storage tank was hit by a drone strike, and the fire has lasted for 12 hours. The statement also mentioned that this incident is the latest among multiple attacks on Zawiya oil facilities in recent times. If the attacks continue, Libya’s National Oil Corporation may declare “force majeure” and fully suspend operations at the Zawiya refinery. The Zawiya refinery has a daily processing capacity of about 120,000 barrels, making it one of the largest refineries in western Libya and a key fuel supply hub for the country. (Xinhua News Agency)
