The Netherlands' trade surplus widened to 10.4 billion euros in June, with both imports and exports showing steady growth.

  1. The Netherlands’ trade surplus in June widened to 10.4 billion euros from 10.1 billion euros in the same period last year.
  2. Exports rose by 9.4% year-on-year to 71.7 billion euros, mainly driven by increased shipments to EU countries (up 14.0%) and non-EU countries (up 2.7%). Leading the growth were chemical products (up 21.7%), machinery and equipment (up 18.1%), non-food raw materials (excluding fuels, up 13.0%), and other manufactured goods (up 5.5%).
  3. Imports expanded by 10.5% year-on-year to 61.3 billion euros, with increased purchases from both EU (up 12.0%) and non-EU countries (up 9.2%). The strongest import growth was seen in food and live animals (up 3.4%), beverages and tobacco (up 16.5%), mineral fuels and lubricants (up 17.0%), and animal and vegetable oils and fats (up 22.1%).
  4. In the first half of the year, the trade surplus reached 53.3 billion euros, with exports up just 0.7% and imports rising by 2.9%.
