Here’s When Billions of XRP In Ripple Escrow Will Be Fully Distributed

Bitcoin’s halving schedule stretches across more than a century. Most attention focuses on the next halving. But crypto commentator and XRP enthusiast Bill Morgan has placed XRP on that timeline, and the positioning raises a significant point about its supply trajectory.

Documenting Saylor, an account that monitors developments involving Bitcoin and Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy), highlighted that only 4 out of the 32 scheduled Bitcoin halvings have occurred.

Morgan took it a step further, noting that XRP’s total finite supply will be fully distributed somewhere between Bitcoin’s 2032 and 2036 halvings, based on Ripple’s current rate of releasing XRP from escrow.

How Ripple’s Escrow Release Works

Ripple holds a large portion of XRP in escrow and releases it on a scheduled basis. The company places unused portions back into escrow each month. Over time, the cumulative releases bring the circulating supply closer to the total cap of 100 billion XRP.

Morgan’s observation ties that process to a fixed external reference point: Bitcoin’s halving calendar. According to his post, if Ripple maintains its current release rate, 100% of XRP’s supply will enter circulation within that specific window.

Importance of this Timeline

Bitcoin halvings occur roughly every four years. The 2032 halving will reduce the block reward to 0.78125 BTC. The 2036 halving will cut it to 0.390625 BTC. That eight-year window, somewhere in the early-to-mid 2030s, is when Morgan places XRP’s full distribution.

Full distribution means no XRP remains in Ripple’s escrow. Every unit of the asset’s fixed supply will be in circulation. That is a structural event for the asset, as supply can no longer expand after that point. Scarcity becomes absolute.

For XRP holders, an asset with a fully distributed, finite supply operates under different conditions than one with a portion still held centrally and released incrementally. Morgan’s post connects that future state to a timeline that many in the crypto space already track closely.

A Supply Event on the Horizon

XRP’s full distribution will not arrive immediately. Based on Morgan’s assessment, it remains roughly a decade away. But the relevance of the point is in the specificity.

Placing XRP’s 100% distribution between two known Bitcoin halvings gives the event a concrete reference frame that investors can track over time, and a timeline for a potential rapid price increase.

Morgan’s post gives XRP holders a new way to think about the asset’s supply curve and where it ends.
