Pump.fun [PUMP] climbed 11.1% to $0.002729 at press time as derivatives participation expanded aggressively, strengthening speculative activity behind its latest advance.

Spot trading volume also jumped 133.22% to $158.7 million in the past day. Meanwhile, derivatives volume surged 163.85% and reached $429.88 million as traders increased market activity.

Open Interest (OI) climbed 20.67% to $229.24 million, confirming an expansion in outstanding leveraged positions. Therefore, leverage increased alongside price rather than contracting during PUMP’s advance.

The volume increase also exceeded the price gain, reflecting stronger participation around the rally. However, higher OI could amplify volatility if the price fails to maintain its breakout structure.

Derivatives activity therefore supported the advance, although expanding leverage also raised the importance of sustained spot demand.

Exchange outflows return after a brief reversal

Spot flows added another layer to PUMP’s rally after exchange activity changed direction during recent sessions.

CoinGlass shows several consecutive days of persistent outflows, with withdrawals reaching roughly $3 million on the 7th of August.

However, the pattern reversed the following day, with exchanges recording a $2.27 million net inflow. That shift temporarily increased exchange-held supply and introduced potential near-term selling pressure. But the latest reading flipped negative again, showing net outflows of about $124K.

The renewed withdrawal reduced immediate exchange-bound supply, although its size remained modest compared with the earlier $2.27 million inflow.

Retail traders take control from whales

While exchange flows improved, the Whale vs. Retail Delta introduced a weaker signal beneath PUMP’s price advance.

The metric had remained positive across most previous months, reflecting stronger whale influence relative to retail activity. However, at the time of writing, the reading dropped below zero and reached approximately -0.06.

This reversal marked a clear departure from the strongly positive levels recorded throughout much of the earlier period. As a result, retail traders gained greater influence while whale participation weakened relative to them. The change complicated the bullish picture created by rising volume, OI, and renewed exchange outflows.

Although retail participation could sustain trading activity, reduced whale dominance removed one source of support behind previous market conditions. PUMP’s rally therefore faced a participation shift despite strengthening derivatives activity.

Can PUMP break above $0.00300 resistance?

PUMP extended its bullish structure after clearing $0.00260, turning the former resistance area into its nearest support zone.

The advance reached $0.002887 before the price settled near $0.002815, leaving the $0.00300 resistance within close reach. Buyers have also maintained the broader sequence of higher highs and higher lows visible since mid-July.

However, RSI surged to 77.59 as of writing, exceeding both the 70 overbought threshold and its 64.22 average. The elevated reading indicates an increasingly stretched advance after PUMP’s rapid climb from its recent lows.

Price structure currently favors another challenge of $0.00300, with $0.00260 providing the foundation beneath the breakout. RSI overheating remains the main obstacle, making consolidation around the new support more likely before buyers attempt a sustained break above $0.00300.

Final Summary

  • Renewed exchange outflows and rising derivatives activity are strengthening PUMP’s current rally.
  • PUMP’s structure favors another $0.00300 test, although RSI signals possible cooling first.
