Fujitsu joined Nautilus Technologies, Internet Initiative Japan, TEPCO Power Grid, Chubu Electric Power Grid, and 1Finity in a joint AI-infrastructure proof of concept.
The project will test a distributed GPU platform linked by an all-photonics optical network to shift AI workloads based on regional power-demand conditions.
It is positioned as Japan’s first attempt to run unified AI processing across utility areas with different grid frequencies, 50 Hz and 60 Hz.
The trial runs from August 2026 to March 2027, using the KYOJO CUP racing series to stream 4K video and telemetry for real-time AI processing.
