XRPL Validator Is Certain: XRP Is Here to Solve These SWIFT Glitches
Cross-border payments remain one of the major use cases for blockchain technology, and XRPL validator Vet has returned with an update after documenting his experience with a delayed international bank transfer.
Days after explaining that a EUR wire payment sent to the United States had become stuck somewhere within the banking system, Vet confirmed that the transaction had finally settled while using the experience to reinforce his view that blockchain-based payment networks address long-standing inefficiencies.
The update follows a post on X from four days earlier in which Vet explained that he had initiated an international wire transfer in euros that was supposed to arrive in U.S. dollars.
According to him, the payment became delayed at an intermediary bank, prompting him to request a SWIFT trace to determine where the funds had stalled. He suggested at the time that the transfer was likely waiting for currency conversion between euros and dollars at an international wire desk.
Vet contrasted that experience with the XRP Ledger’s decentralized exchange, stating that a cross-currency payment between EUR and USD on the XRPL could settle within seconds while allowing anyone to verify the transaction at any time without depending on a bank to provide updates.
Had to sent an international EUR wire payment into the United States to be received in USD.
Days have passed, money is somewhere stuck at an intermediary Bank, requested a SWIFT trace to figure out where the money is stuck. Likely it's pending somewhere for conversion from EUR…
Final Settlement Reinforces His View on Blockchain Payments
Providing an update to the situation, Vet revealed that the payment had eventually reached its destination. He explained that the bank re-triggered the transaction and said the available SWIFT trail did not clearly identify the exact issue.
However, he believes an intermediary bank likely repaired the payment by changing the settlement instructions and routing the transfer through a different intermediary institution before it could be completed.
Although the transfer was ultimately successful, Vet pointed to the need for manual intervention as another example of the limitations that still exist within traditional international payment infrastructure. His comments suggest that even after payments are completed, delays by intermediary banks can create uncertainty for customers trying to track their funds.
Vet also addressed criticism he received after sharing his original experience. He said some people argued that XRP does not solve a real-world problem because its market price has not reached levels they expected. He dismissed that argument, maintaining that price performance should not be confused with the technology’s practical value.
Blockchain Adoption Remains Central to Vet’s Long-Term Thesis
Expanding on his broader outlook, Vet made it clear that blockchain technology will fundamentally change the financial system over time. He suggested that the benefits of faster settlement, transparent transaction tracking, and reduced dependence on multiple intermediaries will become increasingly important as financial infrastructure continues to evolve.
He rounded up his tweet by encouraging readers to develop their own investment thesis while they still have the opportunity, implying that understanding the long-term utility of blockchain technology is more important than focusing solely on current market prices.
Vet’s latest update therefore closes the chapter on his delayed wire transfer while reinforcing the argument he made from the beginning. Although
the traditional banking system eventually completed the payment, the experience highlighted inefficiencies that he believes blockchain networks such as the XRP Ledger are designed to eliminate.
