04:18 PM EST, 11/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- US equity indexes ended higher Wednesday after crude oil prices dropped and Democrats swept both chambers of Congress following US midterm elections. * ADP's monthly measure of private payrolls showed an 86,000 expansion in October, compared with the 67,000 consensus gain in a Bloomberg-compiled poll and a downwardly revised 86,000 addition in September. * The Institute for Supply Management's US services index fell to 54.5 in October from 54.9 in September, more than the 54.8 forecast in a Bloomberg-compiled survey. * The S&P Global US services index was revised to 56.1 in October from a flash estimate of 57.9, versus expectations for no revision in a Bloomberg-compiled poll. * December West Texas Intermediate crude oil fell $7.38 to $88.71 per barrel, while January Brent crude, the global benchmark, was last seen down $8.41 at $95.19. * Moderna (MRNA) shares rose 13%, the top gainer on the Nasdaq, after the company said it will advance its investigational mRNA-1469 vaccine candidate against Bundibugyo ebolavirus toward a phase 2/3 efficacy study in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, subject to regulatory approval, following a recommendation from the World Health Organization's technical advisory group. * Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) shares were down nearly 24%, the worst performer on the S&P 500, after the company lowered its 2026 financial guidance even as its Q3 results beat analyst expectations.
