Jim Cramer says tech stocks still lack the capitulation that marks a bottom. The CNBC host is holding back tech buying after the Nasdaq 100 closed 10.4% below its record. Cramer said on CNBCs Mad Money that the question of whether tech is cheap enough has circulated for three months. Funding worries hit Oracle, which fell almost 9% on Nov. 2 after announcing a $20 billion debt and stock sale. What Would a Real Tech Bottom Look Like? Cramer calls the missing signal a crescendo. He and the late CNBC anchor Mark Haines often discussed the pattern. Weeks of selling, he said, usually finish with one punishing session. The tell is a day that opens weak and closes strong on heavy volume, a sign that sellers have capitulated. But the one thing really lacking is what I call a crescendo. Jim Cramer, host of Mad Money on CNBC, via YouTube Cramer said Fridays tech selloff brought despair without that reversal. The Nasdaq 100 fell 4.1% that day. Can Non-Borrowers Lead a Tech Rebound? Still, Cramer allowed that the correction itself may have set the low, with no crescendo at all. Buyers, he said, may accept tech names that avoid heavy debt or equity issuance. Then, he said, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Arista Networks (ANET) could lead instead of big caps raising capital. Arista makes data center networking gear. On Nov. 2, AMD fell 7.5% and Marvell Technology fell 13% after agreeing to an all-stock deal, 24/7 Wall St. reported. BTIG, however, told investors in October to cut chip exposure on rebounds, expecting weakness that could last into 2027. Meanwhile, Blackstone says Anthropic may miss an investment-grade credit rating after going public. He also sees the elections conclusion helping data center stocks, whichever side wins. On Nov. 2, seven of 11 SP 500 sectors rose as money rotated out of chips. The split suggests investors are weighing how AI spenders fund their build-outs.
