- DuPont (DD.N) on Tuesday raised its full-year profit forecast and projected fourth-quarter earnings above Wall Street’s expectations, as robust demand in its healthcare, aerospace, and industrial water treatment markets drove third-quarter earnings beyond estimates.

The industrial materials manufacturer has been streamlining its business portfolio to focus on high-growth end markets such as semiconductors, healthcare, water treatment technology, and aerospace, while returning cash to shareholders through stock buybacks and asset divestitures.

Last year, it spun off its electronics business—including semiconductor technology and interconnect solutions— (link) as the separately listed Qnity Electronics Q.N.

At a time when the global chemicals industry is facing sluggish demand in key end markets, DuPont has also raised prices to offset rising raw material and energy costs, while boosting production efficiency and cutting debt to support profitability.

The company raised its adjusted core profit forecast for 2026 to nearly $1.79 billion from the previous projection of a range between $1.75 billion and $1.77 billion.

It now expects annual adjusted earnings per share to be between $7.47 and $7.52, up from the prior forecast of $7.17 to $7.32.

Chief Financial Officer Antonella Franzen said DuPont expects full-year results to reach or exceed the upper end of its previous guidance range.

DuPont said it completed a $250 million accelerated share repurchase in the third quarter, and has essentially finished a $100 million open market repurchase.

The company plans to buy back another $250 million in shares in the fourth quarter.

According to data compiled by London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), the company expects adjusted earnings per share of $1.90 to $1.95 this quarter, above analysts' average forecast of $1.87 per share.

Wilmington, Delaware-based DuPont reported adjusted earnings per share of $2.09 for the three months ended September 30, topping analysts’ estimate of $1.87 per share.
