Altcoins Face Weekly Test as Analyst Eyes $1.6 Trillion Target
- Van de Poppe sees a $1.5 trillion–$1.6 trillion market cap target if the weekly chart confirms a recovery.
- His projected 100%–200% gains apply to individual tokens, not the market as a whole.
- A sustained Bitcoin rally could draw trading capital away from smaller tokens, weakening his case.
Altcoins could reach a combined market value of $1.5 trillion to $1.6 trillion over the coming months, according to analyst Michaël van de Poppe. His forecast hinges on where the market finishes the week. After a rally to a new high, the market fell below a recent low. He wants to see it close back above that level.
Why the Weekly Close Matters for Altcoins After the Pullback
The distinction is between trading below a level during the week and finishing the week there. A close above the recent low would suggest buyers had regained ground by week’s end. A close below it would leave his condition for a rebound unmet. He did not give a dollar value for that threshold in his post.
Van de Poppe also sees room for gains of 100% to 200% in some altcoins. For an individual token, that would mean doubling or tripling in price. His separate $1.5 trillion–$1.6 trillion target refers to market capitalization, which can rise even when many tokens lag.
How a Bitcoin Trading Range Could Give Altcoins Room to Rise
Analyst Moustache also views the pullback as consolidation within a bull market. He expects prices to rise after that pause but offered no numerical target or timetable.
Van de Poppe identified one development that could shorten that window: a sustained Bitcoin rally. If traders shift capital back into Bitcoin as its gains accelerate, he expects smaller tokens to lose their relative advantage.
