Bitcoin staking platform b14g is investigating an exploit after attackers withdrew approximately 97 million CORE tokens from its staking contracts on Saturday. The incident occurred at 09:29 UTC, prompting the platform to pause affected contracts and coordinate efforts to recover the stolen assets.
b14g said about 68 million CORE remained on the Core network, while exchange partners froze roughly 9 million tokens linked to the attacker. The platform has yet to disclose the full extent of user losses or explain how the exploit occurred.
b14g is working with Core DAO, security partners, and exchanges to trace the stolen tokens. The platform also identified two attacker-controlled addresses and pledged to publish a post-mortem covering the exploit and recovery plans.
The platform confirmed that Bitcoin deposited through its service remained unaffected. Those assets stayed time-locked on the Bitcoin network, limiting the reported impact to CORE tokens staked through b14g’s contracts.
Core DAO said its network, validators, and staking contracts continued operating normally following the incident. CORE staked directly with validators or through other protocols also remained unaffected.
b14g has not yet explained the technical cause of the exploit or disclosed the whereabouts of the remaining tokens. The platform also has not confirmed how much of the stolen CORE users could recover.
