Shanxi’s coalbed methane production reached a record high in the first three quarters.

In the first three quarters of this year, Shanxi's coalbed methane production reached 11.74 billion cubic meters, hitting a record high for the same period and accounting for about 80.2% of the national output. The predicted resource volume of coalbed methane buried at depths shallower than 2,000 meters in Shanxi is approximately 8.31 trillion cubic meters, nearly one-third of the national total. Leveraging its coalbed methane resources, Shanxi has overcome the challenges of helium extraction, having established a combined process route of "membrane separation + pressure swing adsorption + alloy dehydrogenation + cryogenic purification," resulting in the successful production of 6N-grade ultra-high purity helium with steadily increasing capacity and output.
