Meta Platforms, TikTok, X Lose UK Legal Challenge Over Online Safety Rules

12:39 PM EDT, 10/30/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Meta Platforms (META), TikTok, and X lost a legal challenge against UK regulator Ofcom over information requests under the UK's Online Safety Act, according to the court document on Friday. The UK High Court upheld Ofcom's requests for content moderation data, it added. The Online Safety Act 2023 requires internet services to manage risks from illegal and harmful content, particularly material affecting children, the document said. "We're disappointed with the court's decision, but we and others across industry pursued this challenge because information-gathering of this scale goes beyond what is necessary or proportionate. We remain committed to working with Ofcom and are reviewing the judgement in full," a Meta spokesperson told MT Newswires.
