Starbucks may be ubiquitous, but the coffee giant won't be growing quite as robustly in the U.S. next year. The company said it expects to add less than 100 U.S. stores in its fiscal year that just began, a slower pace than in many years. Starbucks executives said that they are focusing on renovating thousands of existing stores and building back development targets after a series of café closures.
"It does take a little bit of time to reset the pipeline," Chief Executive Brian Niccol said in a Thursday investor call. Starbucks expects to start adding several hundred U.S. stores again by its 2028 fiscal year.
