Eli Lilly's Obesity Pill a Weak Spot in Otherwise Strong Quarter -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/29 19:21By Alex Janin
Eli Lilly's weight-loss pill isn't taking off like Wall Street expected.
Foundayo, a once-daily pill that's generally cheaper than injectables, missed Wall Street's estimates by 19% in the third quarter. The company reported $184 million in revenue for the drug, compared with $5.4 billion for Zepbound, its weight-loss injectable.
The pill may have missed sales expectations because starting doses are cheaper than the maintenance ones, and analysts may not have fully accounted for this pricing difference, said BMO Capital Markets analyst Evan Seigerman. Over time, he said, more patients are likely to transition to pricier, higher doses.
Overall, Lilly's quarter was strong. The drugmaker increased the midpoint of its full-year revenue guidance by $5.5 billion, and beat analysts' estimates with $24.4 billion in quarterly sales. The company's stock was up 6% Thursday and was on track for a new all-time closing high as of midday.
