Microsoft Preps First Bond Sale Since 2017 -- WSJ
Dow Jones2026/10/29 12:45By Sam Goldfarb
Microsoft is finally joining the party.
The tech giant is moving today to issue at least $25 billion in new bonds, according to investors, finally joining its peers in using debt to fund its AI buildout.
Though other so-called hyperscalers like Alphabet, Amazon and Meta have been repeatedly coming to the market with jumbo-sized bond deals for about a year, Microsoft-with its pristine triple-A credit ratings-had been a holdout, having last issued bonds in 2017.
Its bond sale comes after it reported better-than-expected earnings after the market close yesterday, causing its shares to rise in after-hours trading. It is the first bond sale from a hyperscaler since August, when Alphabet completed a $25 billion deal.
