Microsoft (MSFT.US) releases new generation AI image model MAI Image 2.7, ranking second only to OpenAI's model in performance

According to Zhihui Finance APP, Microsoft (MSFT.US) released its latest artificial intelligence image model, MAI Image 2.7, on Tuesday, further strengthening its technological layout in the generative AI field. According to third-party evaluation results, this model ranks second on the AI image model leaderboard, only behind OpenAI’s GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst, outperforming related AI models under Google (GOOGL.US,GOOG.US) and Microsoft's previous generation MAI-Image-2.6.

Microsoft stated that MAI Image 2.7 is now available on platforms such as Arena, Artificial Analysis, and MAI Playground, enabling users to experience the new model’s features through these platforms.

According to Microsoft's official blog, MAI Image 2.7 outperformed the previous generation MAI-Image-2.6 in all 10 application scenarios and 7 image editing operations evaluated by Artificial Analysis.

Specifically, the new model has reached industry-leading levels in image enhancement and restoration, inference-based image editing, scene and style adjustment, and text and symbol editing. Among these, scene and style editing is the strongest area for MAI Image 2.7, with its Elo score leading the second-place model in this category by 24 points, highlighting Microsoft’s technological progress in complex image editing tasks.

It is worth noting that this time, Microsoft has first opened the image editing function of MAI Image 2.7, while the text-to-image generation feature has not been officially launched yet. Microsoft stated that this function will be available soon.

As competition in generative AI technology continues to heat up, image generation and editing have become key focus areas for tech giants. The launch of this new generation AI image model demonstrates that Microsoft is continuously strengthening its independent AI model development capabilities, and is expanding the application scenarios of its AI technology by improving image editing performance.

From a market perspective, as of press time, Microsoft’s stock price had risen slightly by 0.35% to $534.44.
