Speaking on Tesla's conference call, CEO Elon Musk said he didn't have anything to add from his comments yesterday on the talks between Tesla and SpaceX. He described his discussion of the matter as "tap dancing through a minefield."
Musk said on Tuesday's SpaceX call that the merger wasn't a certainty and would need the backing of holders of more than half of Tesla shares, "a high hurdle."
Musk also said he couldn't be involved in the talks because being chief executive of both companies makes him a conflicted party. A merger would hasten Musk's trillion-dollar payday.
