Super Micro Computer has released its preliminary Q1 results for the 2027 fiscal year, projecting revenue between $18.5 billions and $19.5 billions, significantly exceeding the previous guidance of $14.0 billions to $15.5 billions and analyst consensus of $15.23 billions—an increase of approximately 27%. Gross margin is preliminarily expected to be between 12.0% and 12.5%, also higher than earlier guidance. Following the announcement, the company's share price surged 11% in after-hours trading. The company will hold its full quarterly earnings call on November 3, and final figures may be subject to adjustment.

Super Micro Computer released its preliminary business data, with first quarter revenue guidance far exceeding analyst expectations, indicating that the investment boom in AI infrastructure continues to intensify.

On Tuesday, Super Micro Computer announced a preliminary update for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, projecting revenue in the range of $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion, significantly higher than the previous guidance of $14 billion to $15.5 billion. This growth is primarily driven by increased demand for AI platforms.

In comparison, according to LSEG data, analysts previously forecast an average of $15.23 billion, with the midpoint of actual guidance about 27% above the market consensus.

The company is scheduled to hold its quarterly earnings conference call on November 3 at 5:00 PM EST. Following the announcement, Super Micro Computer’s shares surged 11% in after-hours trading.

Revenue Far Exceeds Guidance, AI Demand Becomes the Core Driver

Super Micro Computer attributed this quarter’s revenue outperformance mainly to a significant increase in demand for AI platforms.

For the fiscal quarter ending September 30, 2026, the midpoint of the company's revenue range is about $19 billion, approximately $3.75 billion higher than the previous guidance midpoint, representing a 25% increase.

This performance indicates that capital expenditures by major tech companies and cloud computing clients in AI data center infrastructure continue to grow rapidly, and as an important supplier of AI servers, Super Micro Computer benefits directly.

In addition to revenue, gross margin also exceeded company expectations. Preliminary gross margin is expected to fall within the range of 12.0% to 12.5%, about 1.7 percentage points above the upper end of guidance, which Super Micro Computer attributes to structural shifts in customer and product mix.

Improved gross margins have somewhat alleviated market concerns about profitability, but overall, a gross margin around 12% remains relatively low in the server industry, and future margin trends bear watching.

Super Micro Computer emphasized in its statement that the above financial data are unaudited preliminary estimates based on current management judgment, and final figures may be adjusted after the completion of the financial closing process.

Investors should note when interpreting these figures that the actual financial statements will be submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) together with the full quarterly report after the November 3 conference call, at which point there may still be material differences in the data.
