Legendary Trader Peter Brandt Just Said “XRP Is the Best. Here’s why
Peter Brandt has spent decades as one of the most respected technical analysts in traditional markets. His opinions on XRP have historically ranged from hostile to dismissive. That changed during an appearance on the Crypto Banter podcast with host Ran Neuner from earlier in the year.
A Jake Claver fan account shared a clip from the interview on X where Brandt stated that XRP “probably is the best.” He suggested that it has a strong case for real-world transactional use. Neuner, visibly surprised, asked him to confirm the statement. Brandt repeated it without hesitation.
Brandt’s Surprising Support for XRP
Brandt’s view focuses on utility, not speculation. He cited XRP alongside Solana and Ethereum as the strongest candidates for adoption in payments and transactions. He stated that if he had to bet on a horse to become transactional, XRP would be his first choice.
Neuner’s reaction captured the weight of the moment. “I didn’t imagine that Peter Brandt would be talking about XRP,” he said. Brandt has over 50 years of trading experience across commodities, futures, and financial markets. His endorsement carries credibility that most crypto commentators cannot match.
Context Behind the Comments
Brandt’s history with XRP is not a short one. He called the asset a scam in 2020. He clashed repeatedly with the XRP community on social media, at one point announcing he would no longer post about XRP. He has referred to XRP holders as the most biased group he encountered in five decades of trading.
His recent long-term chart analysis placed a price target of $5.40 on XRP, based on a symmetrical triangle breakout that began in late 2024. He identified the chart structure as one of the cleanest he had seen across all crypto assets. While he has criticized the community, his analysis is an acknowledgment of XRP’s transactional potential.
What the Market is Watching
XRP has built institutional presence over recent years. Ripple’s payment infrastructure connects to banking networks globally. The asset’s role in cross-border settlements has grown. Regulatory clarity in the U.S. has also improved significantly in recent months.
Brandt has stated publicly that he keeps his positions in Bitcoin and operates through futures markets. His comments on Crypto Banter were about probability, not personal conviction. Still, his assessment carries weight precisely because he has no financial interest in XRP’s price.
