Report: Apple to Launch Its First Touchscreen MacBook and New iPad mini at the End of October
According to media reports, Apple plans to release its first touchscreen MacBook, a new iPad mini, as well as a 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac equipped with the M6 chip around October 27. The touchscreen MacBook Pro is expected to feature an OLED display and introduce the Dynamic Island. Next week, Apple also plans to launch a smart home hub, a new HomePod mini, and an upgraded Apple TV, continuing to expand its hardware product line and ecosystem.
Apple is reportedly planning to hold a new product launch event around October 27, unveiling its first touchscreen MacBook and a new iPad mini, as well as updating the 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac equipped with the M6 chip.
This launch will be an important part of Apple’s densely packed product releases this year. In particular, the debut of the first touchscreen MacBook is especially noteworthy, marking Apple’s potential to further expand human-computer interaction methods for Mac computers.
According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, Apple plans to hold the launch event at the end of October, including both online video presentations and in-person activities for the media. This event will primarily target creative professionals engaged in video production, photo editing, and music creation.
In addition to the Mac product line updates, Apple also plans to release a new iPad mini. The device is reportedly equipped with an OLED screen and will adjust the position of the video conferencing camera to one side of the screen when used in landscape mode, as well as upgrade the speaker system.
Apple shares closed up 1.11% on Thursday.

The First Touchscreen MacBook Debuts, Marking a Major Change for the Mac Product Line
One of the main highlights of this launch is that Apple is introducing touchscreen interaction into the MacBook product line for the first time.
According to sources, the new MacBook Pro models, internally codenamed K114 and K116, are expected to be thinner and lighter than current products, featuring OLED screens. OLED, or Organic Light-Emitting Diode display technology, can deliver different display effects compared to traditional display solutions.
Additionally, the new devices will introduce the Dynamic Island screen interaction interface, familiar to iPhone users.
If the new products are launched as scheduled, it would signify Apple taking a new step forward in interactive design for Mac computers.
Apple also plans to launch an entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro and iMac powered by the M6 chip, with internal codenames J804 and J833, respectively. The external design of both models is expected to remain largely unchanged from current versions, with the main upgrades focused on the chip.
New iPad mini Upgrades to OLED Screen as Apple Accelerates Product Updates
The new iPad mini is also expected to receive display and hardware upgrades.
In addition to the OLED screen, the device will also adjust the video conference camera’s position and improve the speaker system to better suit landscape usage and other scenarios.
The release of new Mac and iPad products continues Apple's recent trend of accelerating product deployment. People familiar with the matter say Apple also plans to release additional new Mac and iPad products in the first half of next year.
New Management Drives Product Portfolio Expansion, Apple Doubles Down on Smart Home and Services
This launch plan is also part of Apple’s recent strategic realignment for products. Reports state that CEO John Ternus, who took over the company’s top management position last month, is seeking to drive Apple into new markets and expand related service revenue.
Before the launch of the new Mac and iPad products, Apple also plans to hold another event around October 13, announcing new products and strategic layouts in the smart home sector.
Related products will include Apple’s first smart home central device equipped with a display, a new HomePod mini, and an upgraded Apple TV set-top box, all centered around the Siri AI assistant.
Apple also plans to build a broader smart home ecosystem by introducing accessories from companies such as LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. By expanding its hardware categories and ecosystem partnerships, Apple hopes to improve its competitive position in the smart home market and better respond to Amazon and Google’s competition.
Amazon has released a new generation of tablet product line this week, centered around the Alexa+ platform, showing that the integration of smart assistants and hardware devices is becoming a key area of competition among tech giants.
Overall, Apple’s product plans for October span multiple product areas, including Mac, iPad, and smart home. The first touchscreen MacBook, M6 chip upgrades, and the expanded use of OLED screens will be key indicators to observe Apple’s hardware iteration direction. However, the final specifications, launch dates, and pricing of these products await Apple’s official announcement.
