06:34 AM EDT, 09/21/2026 (MT Newswires) -- (Updates with a statement from Google in the last paragraph.) Alphabet's (GOOGL, GOOG) Google unit was fined 403 million euros ($462.6 million) by Ireland's Data Protection Commission over its processing of location data, the regulator said Monday. The investigation followed complaints from European consumer rights organizations about Google's processing of location data in certain services and products, particularly in Web & App Activity, Location History and Location Accuracy, the regulator said. The regulator ordered Google to bring its processing into compliance within six months. In an emailed statement to MT Newswires, Google said the case focuses on "policies that have since been updated," and that since 2019 the company launched tools that simplify managing location data.
