1. Intel in talks with SK Hynix on first US memory production
Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, said SK Hynix is discussing making memory chips in the US for the first time with Intel — either leasing part of Intel’s Ohio fab or forming a venture with cloud providers to lock in HBM/DRAM supply. SK Hynix later said nothing has been finalized, but the tape still priced it as a US memory-onshoring and foundry-capacity story. INTC closed Wednesday up about 4%.
🎯 Beneficiaries: INTC, SKHY, MU; Key catalyst: US memory-capacity talks still in play — watch official comments and any cloud lock-in.
2. Optical names rally after Ciena’s 2029 growth targets
At its investor event, Ciena outlined roughly 30% revenue CAGR for 2026–2029 and about 50% adjusted gross margin, stressing data-center interconnect and coherent optics demand doubling. LITE jumped nearly 10% on the day; CRDO, COHR, and CIEN moved with it as AI cluster optical interconnects shifted back from sentiment to order validation.
🎯 Beneficiaries: LITE, CIEN, CRDO, COHR; Key catalyst: optical guidance reset higher — watch hyperscaler capex and 1.6T/CPO timing.
3. Generac lands Amazon data-center generator deal
Generac disclosed a long-term backup-generator supply agreement for Amazon data centers: about $2.4 billion of initial deliveries in 2027–2028, with aggregate purchases of up to $8 billion, plus warrants issued to Amazon. GNRC surged more than 30% after hours, repricing AI compute’s hard demand for backup power and on-site generation.
🎯 Beneficiaries: GNRC, AMZN, BE; Key catalyst: data-center power order landed — watch follow-on hyperscaler long-term contracts.
4. Apple said to plan M8 enterprise AI inference servers
The Information reported Apple is working on an enterprise AI inference server with two or four M8 Ultra chips for developers, enterprises, and governments, no earlier than 2029, and has discussed using Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion for chip-to-chip interconnect. The project could still be canceled or ship without Nvidia tech, but it reopened the Apple-returns-to-servers narrative.
🎯 Beneficiaries: AAPL, NVDA, AVGO; Key catalyst: Apple server / NVLink rumor now in a verification window — headline-driven swings likely.
5. SpaceX sets Sept. 22 for Starship’s first orbital attempt
SpaceX targeted Sept. 22 for Starship Flight 14, aiming for first orbit at about 275 km and deployment of 26 Starlink V3 satellites on a ~10-hour mission. SPCX rose about 5% Wednesday on the commercial-payload plus orbital-milestone catalyst.
🎯 Beneficiaries: SPCX, TSLA; Key catalyst: Sept. 22 launch window approaching — watch FAA clearance and flight outcome.
Trading note: The Fed’s first hike in three years and a hawkish tone weighed on the indices, but flows rotated into verifiable order chains — US memory onshoring, optical, and data-center power. Into tonight/tomorrow’s US session, watch INTC and optical volume and whether GNRC’s after-hours premium holds.
