Verizon Communications, Samsung Complete ISAC Trial to Enable Real-Time Crowd Sensing

04:42 AM EDT, 09/15/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Verizon (VZ) and Samsung Electronics completed an Integrated Sensing and Communication trial over a virtualized 5G network at a major soccer event in Dallas, demonstrating real-time crowd sensing, the companies said Monday. The trial combined Samsung's AI-powered vRAN and virtualized core with an ISAC application to generate near-real-time crowd density heatmaps using wireless signals, without additional equipment, the companies said. The technology could help organizers monitor crowds, optimize resources and identify overcrowding risks, while demonstrating how existing networks can support emerging 6G use cases, the companies added.
