The US dollar edged higher against the Japanese yen, currently trading above 160.20. Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda stated that accommodative monetary conditions remain in place and interest rate hikes will continue, with markets already well-prepared for a rate increase in September. As a result, USD/JPY briefly dropped from 160.20 to near 160.10 in early trading. However, renewed hostilities between the US and Iran pushed oil prices higher, stoked inflation fears, and triggered a global bond selloff.
