Americans also oppose additional tariffs on Canada by nearly three to one, with 57% against further tariffs versus just 20% in favor, found the Ipsos poll. Meanwhile, 27% expect little impact and 28% remain unsure. The survey also shows broad opposition to US President Donald Trump's executive order to rename Lake Ontario as "Lake America" last week, with 63% against the move, 14% in favor, and 21% unsure, according to Ipsos. The poll was conducted Aug. 28-30, 2026, with responses from 1,023 adults
