Strategy, a leading digital asset investment company, announced a significant expansion of its balance sheet this week with a notable increase in both its U.S. dollar reserves and cash pools. The company reported these updates in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) dated August 24, 2026, detailing changes in its reserve management approach and share activity.

Capital framework and cash pool expansion
Strategy introduced USD Cash as a new component within its Digital Credit Capital Framework, creating a separate $1.59 billion pool of liquid U.S. dollars. This capital can be deployed for bitcoin purchases, preferred dividend distributions, interest payments on debt, stock repurchases, or convertible note repayments, providing the company with more flexibility to respond to changing market conditions.
The newly established USD Cash operates alongside the existing USD Reserve, which now totals $5.10 billion as of August 23, 2026. While the USD Reserve remains dedicated to servicing preferred stock dividends and interest expenses, USD Cash gives management an additional tool for navigating potential volatility in both bitcoin prices and Strategy’s securities.
Strategy shared these developments on X, formerly Twitter, emphasizing the company’s near-zero net leverage and its substantial share of the global bitcoin supply.
Strategy increased its USD Reserve to $5.10 billion, established a new USD Cash pool of $1.59 billion, and repurchased $136 million in STRC stock. The firm now controls approximately 4% of the total bitcoin supply and maintains near zero net leverage.

Share sales and repurchase activity
During the reporting week, Strategy’s at-the-market (ATM) equity program led to sales of 18,261,118 shares of MSTR, the company’s Class A common stock. Funds raised through these sales supported three main objectives: a $136.4 million repurchase of STRC preferred shares, a $300 million increase in USD Reserve, and the establishment of the $1.59 billion USD Cash pool.
Preferred stock programs such as STRF, STRK, and STRD did not see any new share sales during this period. The total availability under these programs ranged from $1.6 billion to $19.7 billion.
In terms of buybacks, Strategy repurchased 1,431,212 STRC shares for $136.4 million. The company retains $516.6 million in capacity for future preferred stock repurchases via its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program. No MSTR common stock was repurchased during this week, but $1 billion remains available under the MSTR buyback program.

Bitcoin holdings and market position
Strategy’s bitcoin holdings remained steady at 840,447 BTC with no reported purchases or sales during the latest period. This sum equates to nearly 4% of the entire bitcoin supply in circulation, reinforcing the firm’s position as one of the most prominent institutional holders globally.
The average purchase price for all holdings stands at $75,385 per BTC. Strategy continues to issue regular public updates through its investor dashboard.
Strategy’s growing reserves, combined with disciplined capital management, position the company to rapidly address changing market dynamics without altering its core bitcoin strategy.
