Monad surpasses 1M gasless transactions via MetaMask integration
Monad has crossed 1 million gasless transactions through MetaMask’s gas sponsorship feature, a milestone reached roughly five months after the integration went live on March 10, 2026. That makes Monad the first blockchain network to support the feature.
The premise is straightforward: instead of requiring users to hold and spend the native gas token every time they want to do something on-chain, MetaMask automatically covers the network fees for eligible transactions.
How the gas sponsorship actually works
To qualify for sponsored transactions, users need to hold at least 10 MON tokens in their wallet. They also need to maintain that 10 MON minimum after the transaction completes.
The feature covers token swaps, sends, and interactions with decentralized applications. Sponsored transactions are capped at activities consuming fewer than 5 million gas units, and hardware wallets are currently unsupported, meaning the feature is restricted to MetaMask’s software wallet for now.
Monad’s broader play
Monad’s mainnet launched in late November 2025 as an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain, meaning developers can port over Ethereum-native tools, contracts, and applications without rewriting their code from scratch. The network claims throughput exceeding 10,000 transactions per second.
Why gasless transactions matter beyond convenience
Gas fees have been one of crypto’s most persistent UX problems since Ethereum made smart contracts mainstream. Gasless transactions don’t eliminate the cost — MetaMask absorbs the fee through its sponsorship mechanism. The 10 MON minimum requirement creates a baseline of token holding across the user base, which functions as a soft lock on circulating supply.

SpaceX to acquire nationwide 800MHz spectrum portfolio pending FCC approval
SpaceX (SPCX.US) announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement to acquire a portfolio of low-frequency spectrum licenses covering the entire United States, enabling it to directly compete with traditional wireless communication giants nationwide. While Starlink Mobile’s existing global 2 GHz mid-band spectrum will provide high bandwidth capacity, this new spectrum will allow its signals to penetrate obstacles. This move accelerates Elon Musk’s ambitious plan to bypass traditional wireless infrastructure and deliver cellular network connectivity directly to smartphones from Earth’s orbit. The deal involves acquiring 100% of a nationwide 800 MHz spectrum portfolio owned by private equity firm Grain Management, and is still subject to regulatory approval by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). In addition, the FCC this week approved Starlink Mobile’s application for a second-generation satellite constellation, authorizing SpaceX to deploy 15,000 satellites worldwide optimized for the 2 GHz band. Following the announcement, shares of US telecom companies fell in after-hours trading, while SpaceX (SPCX.US) shares rose by over 1.7%.
