Tron adds $10B in stablecoin market cap, ranks second among chains

Tron’s stablecoin market cap has ballooned by roughly $9.7 billion over the past year, pushing the network’s total stablecoin supply to approximately $91.57 billion. That makes it the second-largest blockchain for stablecoins, sitting behind only Ethereum.

The numbers behind the growth

USDT dominates Tron’s stablecoin landscape to an almost absurd degree. Tether’s flagship token accounts for 97.78% of the network’s stablecoin supply, roughly $89.5 billion worth. The only other notable stablecoin on the chain is USDD, Tron’s algorithmic stablecoin, which contributes a comparatively modest $1.19 billion.

The network processes over $20 billion in daily stablecoin transaction volume across more than 2.2 million transactions per day. Year-over-year, daily transaction volume has surged 45.9%, while active addresses now average more than one million per day.

Tron’s median transaction fee sits at around $0.09 per transfer, and confirmations take roughly three seconds.

How Tron became the stablecoin settlement layer

Tron’s stablecoin story didn’t start yesterday. The network began accumulating serious USDT supply after 2021. While most chains, including Ethereum, watched their stablecoin supplies shrink during the 2022-2023 bear market, Tron kept growing. Tether has directly supported minting on Tron, ensuring ample supply to meet demand. And Tron’s EVM compatibility has made integration relatively painless for developers and services already plugged into the Ethereum ecosystem.

Centralized exchanges have been a major catalyst. Binance, in particular, has leaned on Tron’s TRC-20 standard for USDT deposits and withdrawals.

Tron has found significant traction in Asia and emerging markets, regions where remittance corridors handle enormous volumes and where dollar-denominated stablecoins serve as practical alternatives to volatile local currencies.

What this means for investors

Every transaction on the network requires bandwidth and energy resources, which are obtained by staking or burning TRX. More transactions mean more demand for those resources, which theoretically supports TRX’s value proposition.

The growth from roughly $80 billion in stablecoin market cap at the start of January 2026 to $91.57 billion by July represents a 30-day change of about 1.95% at current levels.

The concentration in a single stablecoin is both a strength and a vulnerability. If Tether ever faced a serious regulatory challenge or a loss of confidence, Tron’s stablecoin ecosystem would feel the impact disproportionately, given nearly 98% exposure to one asset.

The nearly 10x growth in stablecoin supply since early 2021 shows that Tron has found a genuine product-market fit as a settlement layer. The 2.2 million daily transactions and $20 billion in daily volume are happening right now, every single day.
