Trump's Newly Appointed Acting Attorney General Previously Held BTC, ETH, SOL, and Other Cryptocurrencies
BlockBeats News, April 3rd, according to CoinDesk's report, after dismissing Attorney General Pam Bondi, Trump appointed former personal lawyer and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as Acting Attorney General. Todd Blanche previously dissolved the Justice Department's National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET) during his tenure as Deputy Attorney General and signed a memorandum instructing prosecutors not to pursue regulatory violations in the cryptocurrency industry. This memorandum was cited by the New York Southern District Attorney's Office in the case of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, ultimately leading to the dismissal of one of the charges.
It is worth noting that Blanche still held approximately $159,000 to $485,000 worth of cryptocurrency assets (including BTC, ETH, SOL, ADA, etc.) when he signed the cryptocurrency enforcement memorandum, raising allegations of violating ethical rules and his previous commitment to divest assets before handling cryptocurrency-related matters. The latest U.S. government ethics disclosure documents from Blanche show that he has transferred the relevant cryptocurrency assets to his children and grandchildren.
