Victors and Defeated After Supreme Court Ruling Overturns Tariffs
Supreme Court Issues Ruling on Tariffs
The Supreme Court has finally released its much-anticipated verdict regarding tariffs, delivering a split decision—7-2 on certain aspects and 6-3 on others. Personally, I expected a more unanimous outcome, perhaps 9-0 or at least 8-1. As is often the case with major legal rulings that influence the economy, many in the financial world seem to miss the finer points of the judgment.
Since Liberation Day on April 2, 2025, I have consistently voiced concerns about tariffs and closely monitored this case as it progressed through the legal system. Instead of celebrating the result, I want to pause and reflect on who ultimately benefits from tariffs and who bears the costs.
