Altcoin Season or Liquidation Spiral? HIFI, BMT, CHESS, SOON, OBOL Crash Over 37% Amid Sudden Market Panic

  • HIFI, BMT, CHESS, SOON, and OBOL fall by more than 37% amid unexpected market volatility.
  • Unmatched sell-offs across these altcoins raise concerns of a liquidation spiral rather than altcoin season strength.
  • Despite the crash, the market still holds pockets of top-tier, innovative assets that remain stable.

A sudden wave of volatility swept through the cryptocurrency market this week, triggering sharp declines across several mid-cap altcoins. HIFI, BMT, CHESS, SOON, and OBOL each fell by more than 37%, erasing much of their recent gains.

This unprecedented drop has fueled debate on whether the market is undergoing an altcoin season correction or facing a liquidation-driven sell-off. Each token displayed unique weaknesses, but all shared the impact of sudden selling pressure. Liquidity gaps and heightened trader caution contributed to these exceptional losses across exchanges.

HIFI: Once Phenomenal Momentum Reversed in a Single Session

HIFI entered the week with strong market interest, having posted dynamic gains over prior sessions. However, its latest price action reversed that growth. Notably, HIFI dropped sharply as selling pressure overwhelmed available bids.

The move below key support areas left the asset vulnerable to further declines. Analysts highlighted this correction as unmatched in recent trading history for the token. Traders now watch closely for whether liquidity returns or further downside unfolds in the coming sessions.

BMT, CHESS, and SOON: Superior Gains Erased by Groundbreaking Liquidations

BMT, CHESS, and SOON, each of which had previously been described as lucrative plays in the market, saw rapid sell-offs. These three tokens experienced severe losses as liquidation data indicated mass position closures. Their declines reflected not only isolated weakness but also broader market volatility.

While these tokens had demonstrated strong upward trends in previous weeks, the sharp turn in sentiment resulted in unparalleled losses in a short period. Traders are now focusing on whether support will build at lower price levels or if sellers remain dominant.

OBOL: Unmatched Decline Highlights Sector Fragility

OBOL registered one of the most remarkable losses among the group. Its price collapse reflected limited liquidity and accelerated liquidation pressures. Despite having been seen as a premier project within its category, OBOL’s decline confirmed that no altcoin sector is immune to rapid market shifts. As market conditions remain unstable, OBOL’s recovery potential depends on how quickly buyers regain confidence.

U.S. budget deficit soars to nearly $2 trillion, exceeding 6% of GDP; high interest rates and tax cuts further worsen the deficit

The US budget deficit for fiscal year 2026 has risen to $1.993 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 12%, marking the highest level since 2021 and projected to account for over 6% of GDP. High interest rates have pushed net interest payments to over $1.1 trillion, accounting for more than half of the deficit increase; lower-than-expected tax and tariff revenues have further worsened the financial shortfall. With just weeks left before the midterm elections, neither party intends to implement substantial fiscal consolidation, and the deficit outlook is highly dependent on the election results.

To deliver computing power, Oracle uses trucks to transport natural gas to power its data centers

To address pipeline delays in AI data center construction, Oracle has adopted an unconventional energy supply method by transporting compressed natural gas via trucks, which has already been implemented in Utah and Texas, and is also being considered for the "Project Jupiter" in New Mexico. However, this solution costs four times as much as pipeline natural gas and is limited in scale, covering only a small fraction of the project's total capacity.
