Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy and a well-known advocate for Bitcoin, stated on the Schwab Network that the cryptocurrency is entering a new bull market phase. He set a target for Bitcoin to exceed $100,000 within the next 12 months but cautioned that achieving this milestone by the end of 2026 is not guaranteed. At the time of his comments, Bitcoin was trading near $83,700, with technical indicators signaling an overall positive trend despite mixed short-term signals.

Bitcoin forecast and technical levels

Saylor’s view reflects his ongoing belief in Bitcoin’s limited supply and its unique role within the financial system. His bullishness comes as monetary policy, institutional capital flows, regulation, and market liquidity continue to shape the path forward. These factors, he suggested, could either support or impede the next significant price move.

In the most recent technical snapshot from TradingView, Bitcoin’s price stood at approximately $83,729. The assessment categorized the outlook as Buy, with strong signals from moving averages and neutral readings from momentum oscillators. Data revealed that BTC traded above several key moving averages—the 10-period EMA near $82,519, the 20-period EMA around $82,613, and the 50-period EMA close to $80,733. The 200-period EMA was near $76,071, highlighting a supportive price structure in the medium term.

The relative strength index (RSI) was near 54, representing a balanced market, while the Average Directional Index (ADX) hovered around 19, suggesting limited directional force. These indicators point to a favorable trend, though a clear acceleration has not yet materialized.

Near-term support lies in the $82,000–$83,000 range, with resistance starting at $84,700 and extending to $89,000. Breaking above resistance could provide momentum for further gains, while losing support may shift attention back to the mid-$70,000 zone.

Saylor on rally drivers and regulatory headwinds

Saylor linked Bitcoin’s recent recovery to a rebound above its 200-week moving average, viewing this as a signal the previous downtrend has likely ended. He contended that earlier market pressure stemmed from restrictive fiscal, monetary, and trade policies, as well as competition for capital from artificial intelligence. Despite such challenges, he maintained that Bitcoin’s underlying case remains strong.

He also identified regulatory updates, especially from US agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Treasury, as well as developments in tokenized securities and lending, as potential catalysts for broader adoption. However, actual demand and the response of market participants will determine the lasting impact of these changes.

“I feel like we’re at the beginning of a bull run,” Saylor said, adding that he expects Bitcoin to return to six figures within 12 months, while acknowledging the target may not be reached before 2026 ends.

Saylor expressed criticism of the proposed CLARITY Act, describing it as a “bill of restrictions” that could stifle digital asset innovation. He instead endorsed regulatory clarity focused on enabling growth rather than imposing constraints.

Mini dictionary: CLARITY Act — A proposed US legislative framework aimed at regulating digital assets. Its status remains under debate, with critics arguing it emphasizes restrictions instead of promoting innovation and market clarity.

Strategy’s holdings and evolving dividend plan

Strategy, which has become one of the world’s largest corporate holders of Bitcoin, reported it owned 848,517 BTC—valued near $70 billion at current prices. The company’s cash position was about $5.2 billion, strengthening its ability to weather potential market volatility or pursue further acquisitions.

Saylor said Strategy added roughly 160,000 BTC in 2026, reinforcing its commitment to a Bitcoin-centric strategy. The firm actively manages its equity and credit instruments, including STRC preferred securities, to finance ongoing expansion and acquisition plans.

A key upcoming initiative is an October 28 shareholder vote on switching some credit instrument dividends to a daily payout schedule. This would align with digital market operations and, according to Saylor, mark the world’s first securities offering calendar day dividends.

Adopting daily distributions could significantly change how investors approach income streams and manage cash flows, but the impact will depend on the proposal’s approval and subsequent implementation.

Given the size of its holdings, Strategy’s performance closely tracks Bitcoin’s price volatility. A rising market could bolster its value, while extended downturns may pressure its financial position and credit profile.

Institutional perspectives shape the long-term picture

Traditional asset managers are also evaluating Bitcoin’s potential contribution to portfolios. J.P. Morgan Asset Management, in its latest Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions report, projected Bitcoin could deliver an annualized return of 10% over the next decade, outperforming several major asset classes such as REITs, bonds, and gold. These estimates focus on multi-year horizons and are not designed to predict where BTC will trade in the near term.

Saylor argues that Bitcoin’s fixed supply of 21 million coins underpins its investment appeal, especially when contrasted with assets subject to increased production or expansion. He noted that advances in artificial intelligence and technology could drive corporate wealth creation, but would not increase Bitcoin’s supply.

However, he acknowledged that scarcity alone is not enough to guarantee higher prices. Overall market direction will still depend on liquidity, investor demand, global policy, and risk appetite.

Will Bitcoin reach $100,000 in the next year?

At the current price, Bitcoin would need to rise by about 19.4% to reach $100,000 but remains far below its all-time high near $126,198 set in October 2025. Technical structure is favorable, but confirming a breakout past resistance will be essential for further upside. Failure to hold critical support zones could lead to renewed downside risk.

Saylor’s prediction of a four-year bull run reflects optimism, but volatility and macroeconomic conditions may still result in corrections along the way. Investors and analysts tracking Bitcoin’s trajectory are urged to separate optimistic expectations from confirmed evidence of upward movement, with both price action and technical indicators serving as tools to monitor progress.
