Currently, the company focuses on the design, manufacturing, and sales of customized food packaging machines. The products are sold to domestic and international clients through established sales and distribution channels.

For food processing enterprises, packaging equipment is not only related to production efficiency but also affects food quality, shelf life, and overall operating costs. Against this backdrop, manufacturing enterprises with capabilities in equipment R&D, customized production, and market services are expected to gain new development opportunities during industry upgrades.

Recently, food packaging machinery company KBAT (KBAT.US) updated its F-1/A filing with the SEC, aiming to go public on the Nasdaq Capital Market through an initial public offering. According to the prospectus, the company plans to issue 6.25 million Class A ordinary shares with an initial offering price range of $4 to $5 per share.

As a manufacturing enterprise focused on the design, manufacturing, and sales of customized food packaging machines, KBAT has become a key participant in the internationalization of China’s food packaging machinery industry, leveraging its technological expertise in thermoforming vacuum packaging machines, vacuum MAP packaging machines, and skin packaging equipment.

This Shandong-based food packaging machinery manufacturer is looking to leverage the Nasdaq capital platform to open up new growth opportunities in the competitive global food packaging machinery market.

Leading Residual Oxygen Technology, Steady Growth in Revenue and Profit

According to Zhitong Finance APP, KBAT’s core operating entity, Shandong KBAT Food Packing Machinery Co., Ltd., was established in 2011 and has developed for over a decade. Currently, the company focuses on designing, manufacturing, and selling customized food packaging machines, with products sold to domestic and international customers through established sales and distribution channels.

According to a Frost & Sullivan report, KBAT has an industry-leading advantage in residual oxygen level control, achieving residual oxygen levels of 0.2% to 0.5%, whereas the Chinese industry standard is 1%. This technical indicator directly impacts food preservation and shelf life and is a key parameter for measuring the core competitiveness of food packaging equipment.

From a product structure perspective, KBAT’s food packaging machinery mainly falls into three categories: thermoforming vacuum packaging machines, vacuum packaging machines, and vacuum MAP & skin packaging machines. Additionally, the company sells vacuum machine accessories and replacement components, forming a revenue structure that balances equipment sales and after-sales parts services.

In terms of application scenarios, the company’s equipment can be used in packaging various cooked and raw foods, pickled products, aquatic products, meat products, bean products, snacks, pharmaceutical products, hardware accessories, and medical devices. This diversified downstream application provides the company with relatively balanced revenue sources.

At the beginning of 2026, the company further expanded its product line by launching a freeze-drying production line composed of freeze dryers and auxiliary processing equipment, marking a technical and business extension in the field of food processing equipment.

Financially, KBAT has shown stable growth in recent years. According to the latest audited data disclosed in the prospectus (as of March 31 each year), the company achieved revenues of $12.1357 million and $13.6771 million in fiscal years 2025 and 2026, respectively, representing a year-on-year increase of 12.70%. During the same period, net profit was $1.9312 million and $2.4851 million, up 28.68%. Both core financial indicators have achieved steady growth.

In terms of revenue structure, revenue from food packaging machine sales accounted for more than 93% of total revenue, reaching 94.7% in fiscal year 2026, while sales of machinery parts and replacement components accounted for about 5% to 7%. In fiscal year 2026, the company’s revenue further grew to $13.6771 million, up 12.70% year-on-year, maintaining its positive growth trend.

Regarding profitability, in fiscal year 2025, the company’s return on equity reached 32.44%, and the return on invested capital was as high as 64.51%, demonstrating strong capital utilization efficiency and profitability. Additionally, the company’s effective tax rate was approximately 11.78%, which is relatively low, benefiting retained net profit and shareholder returns to a certain extent.

From a globalization perspective, KBAT’s packaging equipment has been exported directly or indirectly to many countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, South Korea, Spain, Mexico, South Africa, Japan, and dozens of other countries. However, the proportion of overseas sales in total revenue remains relatively small at present.

Leveraging Capital Markets to Expand Global Opportunities

Regarding KBAT’s US listing, the company’s initial prospectus submitted in July 2025 planned to issue 3.8 million shares to raise about $17 million, with a market cap expectation of about $96 million. In the updated prospectus in June 2026, the issuance scale was significantly increased to 6.3 million shares, with the fundraising amount rising to about $28 million and the expected market cap rising to about $107 million, an increase of 67%.

According to the fundraising plan, a primary purpose of this IPO is to support production equipment upgrades, R&D capability building, and market expansion. Based on the prospectus’ midpoint pricing of $4.50 per share and assuming underwriters do not exercise the overallotment option, KBAT expects net proceeds of approximately $24.6404 million; if the overallotment option is fully exercised, the net proceeds are expected to be about $28.5217 million.

For machinery manufacturing enterprises, the technical level of production equipment directly affects processing precision, production cycles, and delivery capacity. In the future, if KBAT can upgrade equipment, optimize production processes, and improve quality control, it can improve capacity utilization, control unit manufacturing costs as orders increase, and enhance the stability of product deliveries.

Meanwhile, in fiscal year 2026, the company’s R&D expenses increased by 34.8% year-on-year, and R&D expenses as a proportion of revenue rose from 4.3% to 5.1%. If the IPO proceeds further support product design, technical testing, and new product development, the company is expected to gradually diversify its product portfolio and more specifically meet various food processing customers’ needs.

For a company centered on equipment sales, product upgrades not only affect market competitiveness but also potentially impact average selling price, gross margin, and customer repurchase rates. Additionally, R&D projects often have lengthy investment cycles and uncertain commercialization results, so it is necessary to continuously monitor whether R&D can be transformed into sellable products and actual revenue.

According to Zhitong Finance APP, the company’s construction of sales networks in South America demonstrates an intention to expand its overseas market. If the company can establish more effective sales channels, after-sales service systems, and localized customer support, overseas business could become a new source of future revenue growth.

In summary, KBAT’s positive factors lie in its focused main business, revenue and net profit growth in the last two fiscal years, stable gross margin, and strategic alignment between R&D investment and fundraising plans. The company intends to inject new growth momentum into its existing business through smart equipment upgrades, R&D center construction, and overseas channel expansion.

Over a longer cycle, if KBAT can continue to improve product competitiveness, enhance operating efficiency, and steadily increase the proportion of overseas revenue, further growth in business scale and profitability is still possible.

However, for a manufacturing enterprise about to enter the public capital market, its long-term value will be determined not by the listing itself, but by its ability to turn raised funds into sustainable operating results after going public. Key metrics to monitor going forward include whether revenue growth can be sustained, profit margins maintained, R&D investments translated into commercial returns, overseas business expanded, and whether fund usage and corporate governance remain transparent and compliant.

Therefore, KBAT’s IPO should be understood as an important milestone in its transition toward the next stage of development from its existing operating base. Currently, the company has demonstrated a certain level of profitability and ambition for business expansion, but its future growth potential will need to be validated by continuous operational performance.
