A 5-Year Altcoin Pattern Meets Rising Fed Fears: 4 Coins Worth Taking a Risk On Before the Next Move

  • Altcoin dominance has traded within a falling wedge since 2021, but a breakout remains unconfirmed.
  • Fed uncertainty: The supplied 68% probability of another 25-basis-point rate hike highlights potential pressure on risk assets.
  • Five coins to watch: AVAX, ADA, SUI, DOT, and ENA could respond differently depending on liquidity, market sentiment, and individual demand.

A long-term falling wedge on the altcoin markets, coupled with renewed uncertainty regarding U.S. monetary policy, is a technical level that is being closely monitored. Investors are determining if they could see a recovery in the altcoin sector with the Federal Reserve’s more restrictive financial policies already in effect and likely to continue on the horizon this year. As these market forces play out, five cryptocurrencies to watch are Avalanche (AVAX), Cardano (ADA), Sui (SUI), Polkadot (DOT) and Ethena (ENA).

Altcoin Dominance Tracks a Long-Term Falling Wedge

Altcoins have been in a falling wedge since 2021, indicating that they have been relatively weak for an extended time against the cryptocurrency market. The breakout above the top of the formation has garnered some attention as it may indicate a change in market momentum. But just because the pattern is there, doesn’t mean an altcoin rally is going to start in the near future.

Any breakout would have to be accompanied by increased buying volume and better market breadth. Investors can also keep track of Bitcoin dominance, trading volumes, and the market’s performance of the most significant altcoins for confirmation. If the wedge is not broken, altcoins may get more pressure as more investors shift their funds to Bitcoin or into the relatively stronger assets.

The Federal Reserve has another important factor. A higher interest rate will make risky investments look less appealing and make interest bearing investments more appealing, which will decrease the appetite for riskier investments. Cryptocurrencies may thus see further price fluctuations if expectations change to stricter monetary policies. However, monetary policy expectations and technical patterns do not have a standalone influence on prices. Investors will also evaluate the economic data, liquidity conditions and demand for individual crypto projects prior to making their decisions.

Avalanche (AVAX) Faces a Market-Confidence Test

If market interest spreads out from Bitcoin, then Avalanche is one of the assets to take a look at. Its price action might give it a clue on the demand for other L1 blockchain networks. If accompanied by increased trading volume and continued buying sentiment, a more convincing recovery would be; however, it currently does not.

Cardano (ADA) Remains on the Altcoin Watchlist

Once the falling wedge breaks upwards, and investors start to buy on noteworthy altcoins, then Cardano will be in the spotlight. How it performs compared to Bitcoin and other major cryptocurrencies could be a sign of whether or not the market is growing. There would need to be confirmation if a breakout of the altcoins if that were to happen.

Sui (SUI) Could Reflect Changing Risk Appetite

Sui is also a digital currency that should be monitored as traders evaluate their appetite for more volatile digital currencies. The market demand is robust, and it may be further boosted by new demand, but it could be affected by ongoing rate-hike worries, which may restrict speculative buying. Trading movements and overall market sentiment are likely to be significant indicators.

Polkadot (DOT) and Ethena (ENA) Face Different Market Conditions

Polkadot also has some points of comparison when contrasting with the leading blockchain networks, while Ethena exposes investors to a different aspect of the blockchain space. They can differ in performance due to the requirement of the project and the overall market liquidity. Both won’t reap the rewards from a general recovery of the altcoins.

What Investors May Watch Next

The major factor to watch is to see if altcoin dominance can move above the falling wedge as the Federal Reserve’s next step is yet to be determined. A confirmed breakout may provide a boost in market sentiment, while the strong downward trend and financial conditions will delay a recovery. AVAX, ADA, SUI, DOT, and ENA still have a chance to be breakout opportunities as they are on the watchlist.

Report: Anthropic to Invest Over $600 Billion in Computing Power. The company generated $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of the year, with approximately $9 billion spent on computing power.

Anthropic is preparing for a historic IPO with a valuation between 1.5 and 2 trillion yuan, aiming to go public in November. For the first half of 2026, net losses reached 80.7 billion USD (mainly due to accounting provisions), with revenue at 16.3 billion USD; third-quarter revenue grew by 45% quarter-on-quarter to 16.8 billion USD. The company's total commitment to computing power expenditures exceeds 600 billion USD, covering agreements with Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft, and Nvidia chip leasing. Although the company claims to have achieved adjusted positive profits in the second quarter, enormous rigid computing costs and a lack of financial transparency remain core risks for investors.
