AT&T Mexico Acquisition A Long-Term Positive for Televisa -- Market Talk
Dow Jones2026/10/14 16:311231 ET - The $2 billion purchase of AT&T's Mexico business by Grupo Televisa in a 50-50 partnership with Fintech Holdings is a potential long-term positive for Televisa as it adds a relevant mobile operation to its mostly fixed-line services, analysts at Grupo Financiero Banorte say in a note. "This opens opportunities to integrate fixed-line telephony, wireless, internet and TV, strengthening its competitive position against America Movil/Telmex and reducing its dependence on the television business." Challenges include the implied change of management and improving profitability of AT&T Mexico, they add. Televisa shares rise 4.6% on the Mexican stock exchange. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
