Global Liquidity Is Tightening Fast: 5 Cryptos Worth Buying as Japanese Bonds Go Parabolic

  • Rising Japanese bond yields are increasing attention to global liquidity and cross-border capital flows.
  • Higher funding costs can affect leveraged crypto positions and risk appetite across the altcoin market.
  • CELO, RAY, ENA, CRV, and VET provide exposure to payments, decentralized trading, stablecoins, DeFi liquidity, and enterprise blockchain use.

Japanese government bond yields have surged, further testing the world’s liquidity and riskier assets. The transfer has garnered attention in the financial markets, including the cryptocurrency markets. The bond market has become a key element of the prevailing macro landscape as local yields are higher in Japan. Japanese borrowing costs can affect capital flows if investors adjust their portfolios to rebalance their investment allocations between Japanese bonds and foreign riskier assets.

In addition, higher Japan yields may harm the yen carry trade – an arrangement that has historically seen investors using the yen to borrow at modest rates and invest elsewhere at higher rates. If Japanese rates increase, that can make those jobs less appealing and lead to less liquidity in riskier markets

For cryptocurrencies, the impact can be significant because altcoins are generally more sensitive to changes in liquidity, leverage, and investor risk appetite. However, tighter global financial conditions do not automatically determine the direction of every token. Network activity, liquidity, adoption, and sector-specific developments can also influence individual assets. Against this backdrop, five cryptocurrencies are drawing attention across the blockchain market: Celo, Raydium, Ethena, Curve DAO, and VeChain.

Celo Brings Focus to Blockchain Payments

Celo is a blockchain network designed around payments, mobile accessibility, and decentralized applications. Its ecosystem has increasingly focused on stablecoin transfers and broader onchain financial activity.

As markets become more selective, network usage becomes an important metric for evaluating whether demand remains supported by actual activity rather than speculation alone.

Raydium Remains Linked to Solana Trading Activity

Raydium operates as a decentralized exchange and liquidity protocol within the Solana ecosystem. Its activity is closely connected to decentralized trading, liquidity provision, and token launches.

That connection makes trading volume an important factor for RAY. Sustained onchain activity could provide a stronger foundation, while falling liquidity across decentralized markets could create additional pressure.

Ethena Depends on Stablecoin and DeFi Activity

Ethena has been built around a crypto-native financial model with derivatives and yield generation, and the USDe token. The following are the connections its ecosystem has with its funding rate, its collateral conditions, its derivatives demand, and its adoption of stablecoins. These considerations are particularly relevant as liquidity conditions change, since funding markets can affect the economics of decentralized financial products.

Curve DAO Serves a Major DeFi Liquidity Role

Curve DAO remains closely associated with stablecoin trading and liquidity within decentralized finance. Its infrastructure has been used extensively for swaps involving assets with similar values.

With global liquidity under scrutiny, activity across DeFi protocols remains an important metric. Changes in trading volume, total value locked, and liquidity demand could influence the outlook for CRV.

VeChain Focuses on Real-World Blockchain Use

VeChain takes a different approach from the DeFi-focused projects in this group. The blockchain has focused on enterprise applications, supply-chain tracking, product data, and business-related blockchain solutions. That gives VET exposure to a different adoption narrative, where long-term network usage and real-world applications remain central considerations.

What Tightening Liquidity Could Mean for Altcoins

The rise in Japanese bond yields adds another variable to an already complex global market environment. If higher Japanese rates encourage capital to move toward domestic fixed-income assets, liquidity available for speculative investments could become more constrained.

Crypto traders are therefore likely to continue monitoring Japanese bond yields, yen movements, global interest rates, leverage, and stablecoin flows alongside individual blockchain activity.

Ken Griffin explains "AI crash" in detail: computing power is similar to aviation, three major traps—"marginal pricing", "depreciation period" and "corporate budgets"

Ken Griffin, founder of Citadel, believes there are three major potential pitfalls in AI computing power investment: GPUs and airlines share similar structures—once supply exceeds demand, marginal prices will plummet; the high rental premium for outdated GPUs is unsustainable, and investment firms' 7-to-9-year depreciation models are facing revaluation; enterprise AI spending has shifted from trial and error to precise ROI calculations, aiming to save costs wherever possible, which conflicts with the massive capital expenditures of tech giants.
