Bitget CLO Letter: More Assets Mean More Responsibility in the Multi-Asset Era

By Hon Ng, Chief Legal Officer, Bitget
June is Anti-Scam Month, and this year's theme "More Assets, Stronger Shield. Stay Safe in the Multi-Asset Era" comes at a very relevant moment for Bitget. Under Bitget's UEX vision, users can now access spot markets, futures, copy trading, earn products, and tokenised real-world assets through a single platform (subject to our platform terms). The industry is moving toward broader multi-asset access, and platforms are evolving alongside that shift. However, expansion also changes the scale of responsibility. More products create a more complex risk environment.
As platforms expand into new products and markets, new forms of scams tend to emerge alongside them. More sophisticated products often introduce risks that are less visible to the average user. The industry has dealt with this in various forms, from exchange hacks and DeFi exploits to increasingly elaborate social engineering schemes targeting retail users. Whenever a new asset class emerges, bad actors tend to follow.
During 2025 alone, Bitget's security systems intercepted more than 150 million malicious attack requests and identified over 13,000 high risk malicious IP addresses. The Bitget Security team handled 18,135 cases in 2025 to help users recover funds, with a total of $32.3 million recovered for users. These figures are a reminder that user protection is no longer limited to preventing isolated incidents. Platforms must be prepared to defend against threats operating at scale.
Expanding into new markets is a business decision but it's also a compliance one. At Bitget, we treat the two as closely connected. In practice, that means every asset class we offer comes with dedicated risk disclosures built around the specific risks of that asset. A tokenised stock, futures contract, and a staking product each carry different risks. Users should have a clear understanding of those differences before accessing them.
We run cross-asset monitoring for anomalous trading patterns because fraud activity rarely stays isolated to a single product. Our systems are designed to detect activity that spans across asset types and different parts of the platform. We also invest heavily in user safety education tailored to different user profiles, because a first-time spot trader requires different guidance from an experienced derivatives user.
Education remains one of the most effective tools available to the industry. Through Anti-Scam Month campaigns, security awareness resources, and community initiatives conducted across 2024 and 2025, Bitget's educational efforts reached approximately 1.38 billion users globally. The objective is to help users recognise threats before they become victims.
When incidents do occur, response time matters significantly. Bitget maintains rapid response capabilities, including asset freezing mechanisms where appropriate, as acting quickly can materially reduce user exposure and limit the movement of illicit funds. We also engage proactively with law enforcement and regulators across multiple jurisdictions. Compliance is not just an internal process and we partner extensively with other market participants as well. Cross-border scams are becoming increasingly coordinated, and the industry's response needs to evolve at the same pace.
We work alongside security organisations such as SlowMist and Elliptic to strengthen threat intelligence sharing, improve scam detection capabilities, and contribute to broader industry awareness efforts. Fraud prevention is increasingly a collective challenge that requires collective action.
Regulatory frameworks for multi-asset trading platforms are still developing across most markets, much like the early days of crypto exchanges, when regulators and market participants are still determining how digital assets should be treated. In periods where regulation is still evolving, platforms need to rely more heavily on strong internal standards and controls.
"More Assets, Stronger Shield" is not a campaign slogan. It is the operating principle behind every product decision, compliance review, and engagement we have with regulators globally. It reflects our commitment across every asset, every market, and every user who trusts Bitget with their money and that is not something we take lightly.
