Club Football Returns: Which Games Will Fan Token® Traders Be Eyeing This Weekend?

It was an international break to remember, and not just because it was longer than usual. Spain and England contested a classic at Wembley, the World Cup winners narrowly beating the third-place finishers; Italy (and its Fan Token® $ITA) posted positive results after their World Cup absence; Portugal hit a win streak before Cristiano Ronaldo walked out of the c and on the other side of the world, perhaps the greatest player of all time – Lionel Messi – played his final international match.

But football moves fast, and so do the SportFi markets. Which is why the return of the Nations League is quickly fading from memory, as club football reclaims center stage. This weekend, there’s plenty to look forward to for fans of Europe’s biggest clubs, as well as traders of their official digital assets. Let’s look ahead, and consider what might happen to the teams and their tokens.

Can $AFC Turn Bullish if Arsenal Reclaim Summit?

Arsenal had looked unstoppable in their early league matches, but they came unstuck in their last outing, losing 3-0 to a rampant Brighton side who are now third in the league.

That result not only enabled Manchester City to climb into first place, it dented confidence in the Arsenal Fan Token® ($AFC), causing it to slide 3.7% over the next week.

Although things have since settled down, with $AFC trading in a relatively tight range, the bulls may rally this weekend if Arsenal return to winning ways at home to fifth-placed Leeds United ($LUFC).

Who Will Blink Between Barça and Atlético?

In Spain, Barcelona have won seven out of seven this season, scoring 31 and conceding just seven. As for the Barcelona Fan Token® ($BAR), it’s also in rude health: up 8.35% over the last 24 hours at the time of writing, with volumes hitting $2.9M.

On Saturday, Barcelona are favourites to preserve their 100% record when they host mid-table Getafe. The same day, their closest rivals so far this season, Atlético Madrid ($ATM), travel to an Alavés side who are winless in their last three. If both teams win as expected, Barcelona will maintain their five-point gap after seven games.

Given traders thrive on jeopardy, there mightn’t be a storm of activity around these fixtures – at least if the favourites prevail. But next week’s return to the Champions League could be a different story: Atlético welcome English giants Manchester United to the Metropolitano on Tuesday (Oct. 13) looking to get their first win on the board, while Barcelona travel to an in-form Galatasaray the same night.

Will PSG Finally Click Into Gear in Ligue 1?

AS Monaco are currently top of Ligue 1, having gone unbeaten in their first five games. What’s more, they have a favourable run of fixtures coming up, meaning they’re well placed to enter November in poll position. Little wonder the value of the AS Monaco Fan Token® ($ASM) has climbed 21.5% since Sept. 16.

As for reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain, they’ve struggled, winning just two of their opening five matches: they are currently sixth, two points adrift of Rennes and Lille and five behind Monaco.

On Saturday, PSG are at home to mid-table Le Mans and only a win will restore confidence in the toiling champions. In the SportFi markets, the Paris Saint-Germain Fan Token® ($PSG) gained 8.3% between Sept. 16 and Sept. 27 but it has since declined 3.4%.
